School Papers help
Help and backups
Keep a verified Recovery Backup before an update, uninstall, or device change.
Install or update
Use the normal School Papers download unless the testing version is specifically needed. Android may ask to allow the browser or file manager to install an APK. Follow the Android installation guide.
For an update, keep the same channel: Stable updates Stable, and DEV updates DEV. The two channels have separate app data. Installing one does not transfer papers to the other.
Back up papers
- Open School Papers and create a Recovery Backup from Settings.
- Choose a destination in Android's file picker and wait for the app to finish verifying the archive.
- Keep a copy somewhere separate from the phone before removing app data or changing devices.
A Recovery Backup is different from simply keeping a downloaded APK. The APK does not contain personal papers. Do not uninstall or clear app storage to troubleshoot until the backup has been verified.
Common problems
- Android blocks the APK: allow installation for the specific browser or file manager used to open it; do not disable broader security protections. See installation steps.
- An update will not install: check that the APK is for the same Stable or DEV channel and was downloaded from TinkerCobble.com. Keep the existing app and its data in place while checking.
- A selected file is missing: check the source location in Android Files, then import it again if needed. Avoid deleting the only copy of a paper.
Known limits and verification
Stable 0.1.0 does not include DEV's multi-page Add Next or local OCR suggestions. DEV is for testing; its calendar handoff does not yet establish a persistent event link. Direct Downloads do not update automatically.
The Version & file verification section lists the current packages, filenames, and SHA-256 checksums. School Papers privacy details explain local storage and optional DEV network behavior.
